Plastics
– environment and quality
The temperature of the planet is rising – an environmental problem that no one can have failed to notice. The primary cause is the major emission of carbon dioxide (CO2), and the consequences are melting glaciers, high water levels and changes to the vegetation zones. Contrary to what people might believe, plastic is a product that helps cut energy consumption. The production of plastic is resource-efficient, accounting for only 4-6% of the world’s total oil consumption. Almost 90% of the oil is used for heating and transport.
Plastics also have a long life and are highly durable, meaning that they do not have to be replaced very often. The production of plastics is relatively cost-efficient, and plastics are light. That reduces the amount of fuel used in transportation, which is why plastics are ideal as a packaging material or replacement for metal.
When a plastic product reaches the end of its life, we can recycle it and make new products or convert it into energy. To minimise the impact on the environment, we work to help our customers choose more environmentally aware products, in terms of both material choice and production methods. We prioritise the continuous improvement of our business with a view to achieving an environmental profile that is sustainable in the long term.
